Clinical Philosophy

At Delisle Youth Services, we Care, Inspire and Empower.

DYS believes that all youth, regardless of their developmental, emotional and/or psychiatric needs are resilient. With support utilizing a range of high quality prevention, intervention and treatment services, youth to the best of their abilities, can become contributing members of society and productive citizens. Our strength is in engaging and working with youth and their families, to strengthen their ability to support autonomy, skill development and to have improved developmental and mental health outcomes. Within this framework DYS utilizes a harm reduction approach to service. This approach recognizes that not all clients are prepared to accept abstinence as a goal for their risk behaviour. We are committed to providing services that are accessible, responsive and adaptive to changing needs. Our goal is always to help children, youth and their families cope through difficult times, develop new skills, and forge a path to a promising future. Our practice is based in the school, home and community.

Partnerships with community services such as the Toronto District School Board, the Northern District Branch of the Toronto District Library, agencies from the developmental services sector and the Anne Johnston Health Station supports Delisle’s principles of collaboration, holistic programming, and early intervention.

At DYS we believe that a dedicated, knowledgeable and trained staff group is the foundation of all that we do.
