VISION

The Delisle Youth Gallery was created for the purpose of giving youth a space to express their voices through any form of art and share them with the community. The aim of the gallery is to represent youth as positive, creative individuals and also to help them feel this way about themselves. We aim to build community awareness and acceptance of youth and youth issues and to foster, recognize and showcase personal strengths and diversity amongst Toronto’s youth community.

GALLERY SPACE

The Delisle Youth Gallery is housed in the counselling office of Delisle Youth Services throughout the year and following the exhibit opening, in the Skylight Gallery space in the Northern District Library for the period of one month.

Transforming our space into a gallery for young artists is fitting with how we work with youth and view youth in our programs at Delisle Youth Services. By displaying the creative expressions of diverse youth, we demonstrate our commitment to their voices and make our space safe and youth friendly. With the gallery décor, we can offer clients an inspiring atmosphere that encourages self-reflection and fuels the imagination.

Delisle Youth Gallery Committee
The DYG Committee is made up of youth aged 13-19 who meet to develop and plan each year’s show. Youth gain community service hours towards their high school diploma or probation hours. Planning the show develops skills in working with others, planning an event, decision making, developing and sharing ideas, as well as in areas of gallery curation, graphic design, event-planning and communications.
